FULL DISCLOSURE: I have friends who are former Teams guys who, along the way, helped me stay safe in my career thus I do have a special place in my heart for these guys. That said, I've never met Mr. Lacz so I have no personal connection with him though I learned, after reading his book that he apparently lives in my old stomping grounds in the Panhandle.I bought this book after seeing him on Fox & Friends talking about his book. I decided I'd buy it as a way of quietly supporting him and those who have fought for us. I figured it would be like all the other books out there where authors talks more about their accomplishment, with perhaps some embellishments here and there, mix in a little CDI (chick dig it) lingo and presto "I'm a hero." That is NOT the case at all here. Mr. Lacz gives the ground truth of war and the warriors who fight to protect our freedoms along with his own experiences, warts and all.The Last Punisher will put you under the helmet and in the books kicking of moon dust as you walk the streets of Ramadi. But where other "warrior" books want to share only the "good" stuff, Lacz shares some of the otherwise "boring" stuff to give the reader a better perspective of how things actually happen. He talks about the number of times they got geared up, stressed trying to get to their objective, finding nothing, then stressed getting safely back home. It happens. Not every day is profitable. Yet they still paid the fee in sweat equity and fatigue only to come up empty handed. But when they were profitable, grab your backside and hold on. If you've seen the movies; American Sniper, Lone Survivor, 13 hrs, and so forth, you can easily visualize where Lacz is taking you. You can easily visualize how SEALs move from cover to cover. You walk along side of him, preparing for a direct action contact. And you're there with the guys witnessing him screwing things up.But beyond putting you under the helmet, Lacz puts you in the head of a warrior and shares what it take to survive mentally. And why, when they come back home, they have nowhere near the difficulty readjusting to life than the other 98% of us would have. Sure their humor may be "sick" to some. Sure they may find something funny it's hitting the fan. It is something very difficult to grasp if you've never been there and Lacz takes us to there. "Teams and shhhstuff." (Forgive me Dauber but Amazon censors)Lacz does not get into the politics of war save for the REMFs (get the book for the definition) who were calling the shots putting people in harms way oftentimes with poor judgment. The politics were clearly pay grades above his and I believe he was right to leave his opinions out of this book. For managers and supervisor, pay attention here. Learn to read your people. Learn how to feed them and how to rest them. Learn how to keep them hungry for more. And if you're not shedding tears when he shares bringing Marc Lee (HOOYAH! MARC LEE) home, you're not human and you need to get yourself checked out.If you're an American, if you love this country, please show your support with the purchase of this book. It's such a small price to pay for what he and the SEAL Team THREE "Punishers" have given you.

Everybody has already said it but I think Kevin says it best, "Teams and Sh*t" and when he says it, you just get it. I think the book is a terrific story. I felt like I learned less about SEAL/s and more about Kevin and the men he served with. Dauber was a solid operator, a good man in front of the train or the back. He did it all and it was refreshing to get a real honest "New Guy" take on being a SEAL. I enjoyed the book tremendously and seeing the hints of friendship that existed between Kevin (Dauber) and Chris Kyle (American Sniper) were very humanizing. Chris's somewhat protective nature struck Kevin enough to write about it. I think Kevin has to write another book about his second deployment and after that he needs to clean the heavy weapons "Teams and Sh*t". If Kevin wrote it I'd even be interested in a book on Marc Lee. Kevin had bonded with Marc Lee and both he and Chris spoke very highly of that man. I know that as long as men like Kevin, Marc and Chris live and breathe the borders of this great nation will be clearly defined, proudly guarded and fiercely defended. Great book Dauber! Stoked for your second effort! Come on! Do it Dauber!!!Still a 5 star book. I saw another comment that gives the AUDIO part of this book 2 stars and I have to agree. ALL OF THE AUDIO BOOKS YOU CAN GET AS COMPANIONS TO KINDLE ARE TERRIBLE. Amazon if you are serious about this service then please get the MUZAK INSPIRED readers to put some interest into the text they are reading. Please fix this otherwise TERRIBLE AUDIO-BOOK SERVICE!!!

To even have a fraction of understanding of what occurred overseas is very important and it should be something that every American strives to understand further. The author explained everything very well and effectively communicated what he and his teammates went through.As a fan of the Jocko podcast I have been fortunate to hear about this deployment from the officer side so it is refreshing to hear an enlisted guy's experience within the same deployment. Additionally, some of the people Lacz mentions in the book have been interviewed on the podcast. Having heard a 2-3 hours interview with Tony on the podcast it made the book that much more enjoyable and understandable.If you are interested in understanding the cost of the luxury we have today in America, listen to the podcast and buy this book.I bought the digital copy and it was well put together and easy to read. About the Author
Marvin Bittinger For over thirty years Professor Marvin L. Bittinger has been teaching math at the university level. Since 1968 he has been employed as a professor of mathematics education at Indiana University - Purdue University at Indianapolis. Professor Bittinger has authored 159 publications on topics ranging from Basic Mathematics to Algebra and Trigonometry to Brief Calculus. He received his BA in Mathematics from Manchester College in 1963 and his PhD in Mathematics Education from Purdue University in 1968. Special honors include being Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy and being elected to the Manchester College Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1999. His hobbies include hiking, baseball, golf, and bowling and he enjoys membership in the Professional Bowler's Association and the Society for the Advancement of Baseball Research. Professor Bittinger has also had the privilege of speaking at a recent mathematics convention giving a lecture entitled, Baseball and Mathematics. In addition, he also has an interest in philosophy and theology, in particular, apologetics. Professor Bittinger currently lives in Carmel, Indiana with his wife Elaine. He has two grown and married sons, Lowell and Chris, and three grandchildren. Neal Brand is the Departmental Chair and Professor of Mathematics at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where he has taught since 1983. Before teaching at UNT, he taught at Ohio State University and Loyola University of Chicago, and he was employed as a scientist at McDonnell-Douglass Corporation. He received his BS in Mathematics from Purdue University in 1974, and his MS and PhD in Mathematics from Stanford Universityin 1976 and 1978 respectively. He has authored or co-authored 26 refereed articles that have appeared in the mathematical literature. Dr. Brand is a member of the Mathematical Association of America and the American Mathematical Society. Outside of mathematics, his interests include woodworking and carpentry. He is a founding board member and current board president of Habitat for Humanity of Denton County. He lives in Denton, Texas with his wife Shari. He also has two grown daughters. John A. Quintanilla is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where he has taught since 1996. He received both his BS and MS in Mathematics from Stanford University in 1992, and he received his PhD in Civil of Engineering and Operations Research from Princeton University in 1997. He has authored or co-authored 18 refereed articles that have appeared in the scientific literature. Dr. Quintanilla has been the recipient of multiple teaching awards. In 2004, he received the University of North Texas President's Council Teaching Award. In 2005, he was conferred the Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics Award by the Texas Section of the Mathematical Association of America. Dr. Quintanilla is a member of the Mathematical Association of America and the Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences. His outside interests include golf, volleyball, softball, and Bible study. He lives in Denton, Texas with his wife Sandra and their daughter Sarah.

Judy Beecher has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Indiana University and a graduate degree in mathematics from Purdue University. She has taught at both the high school and college levels with many years of developmental math and precalculus teaching experience at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis. Judy Penna received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from Kansas State University and her graduate degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois. Since then, she has taught at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis and at Butler University, and continues to focus on writing quality textbooks for undergraduate mathematics students. In her free time she likes to travel, read, knit and spend time with her children. Marvin Bittinger For over thirty-eight years, Professor Marvin L. Bittinger has been teaching math at the university level. Since 1968, he has been employed at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis, and is now professor emeritus of mathematics education. Professor Bittinger has authored over 190 publications on topics ranging from basic mathematics to algebra and trigonometry to applied calculus. He received his BA in mathematics from Manchester College and his PhD in mathematics education from Purdue University. Special honors include Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy and his election to the Manchester College Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1999. His hobbies include hiking in Utah, baseball, golf, and bowling. ProfessorBittinger has also had the privilege of speaking at many mathematics conventions, most recently giving a lecture entitled "Baseball and Mathematics." In addition, he also has an interest in philosophy and theology, in particular, apologetics. Professor Bittinger currently lives in Carmel, Indiana with his wife Elaine. He has two grown and married sons, Lowell and Chris, and four granddaughters.

About the Author
Linda Miller has considerable experience in international small-bore target shooting as a member of Canada's Shooting Team. She won medals at the 1993 Mexico World Cup, the 1994 Commonwealth Games and the 1995 Cuba World Cup. In 1999, Linda became the first woman to win the Ontario Lieutenant Governor's Medal for full-bore shooting.

Capt. Keith Cunningham, Ret. has more than 25 years' experience with the Canadian Forces and the US Army. He has considerable practical experience, including a combat tour in Vietnam, peacekeeping and countersniper operations in Cyprus, and annual unit-and command-level military exercise in North America and Europe. He has taught marksmanship courses at the Canadian Forces Infantry School and at several police forces in Ontario. An internationally certified shooting coach, he has successfully coached numerous teams to national and international excellence.
